Julia Krause studierte – nach einigen Jahren als Regieassistentin an den Schauspielhäusern Düsseldorf und Hamburg – Angewandte Theaterwissenschaft in Giessen, Fine Arts am Dartington College of Arts (UK) und Medienkunst an der Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig. 2011 erhielt sie dort ihr Diplom mit Auszeichnung.

Seitdem arbeitet sie als Künstlerin im Bereich der performativen und bildenden Künste. Sie arbeitet an ortsbezogenen Audiospaziergängen und -installationen und produziert Musik und akustische SetUps für Theater- und Tanzperformances. Zudem entstehen Filme, Lecture Performances und Videoinstallationen, stets mit einem besonderen Fokus in und an akustisch-musikalischen Fragestellungen.

Seit 2009 arbeitet sie mit dem Regisseur Jens Heitjohann an gemeinsamen Bühnen- wie Installationsprojekten, seid 2010 zusammen mit der Dramaturgin Friederike Thielmann an musik-theatralischen Performance-Installationen, seid 2012 als Theatermusikerin und Performerin für und mit der Choreografin Lucie Tuma sowie dem Künstlerinnen-Duo Chuck Morris und seid jüngster Zeit mit Bernhard Mikeska und Alexandra Althoff (RAUM+ZEIT) an ihren theatralen Installations-projekten.

Ihre Arbeiten werden sowohl im Galerie- wie Theaterkontext gezeigt. In den letzten Jahren waren dies u.a. die Internationalen Schillertage Mannheim, Tanzpanorama / ID Frankfurt, die Werkschauhalle der Spinnerei Leipzig, das RESONANZEN Festival fuer Hoerkunst Leipzig, die Kunsthalle Exnergasse Wien, das Künstlerhaus Mousonturm in Frankfurt a.M., Theaterhaus Gessnerallee Zürich, das Haus der Kunst in Brno, Tschechien, das Festival Theater der Welt, SÜDPOL Luzern, Inkonst Malmö, MDT Stockholm, LAB Frankfurt a.M., BoraBora Aarhus, Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln, S/V Kopenhagen, Pathos München, Skogen Göteborg, Dansehallerne Kopenhagen, Heidelberger Stückemarkt, sowie Sophiensaele Berlin.

Julia Krause, studied – after some years as director assistent at the theatres in Düsseldorf and Hamburg – Applied Theatre Science in Giessen, Fine Arts at Dartington College of Arts in the UK and Media Art at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig. In 2011 she completed her studies with a fine arts diploma with distinction.

Since then she is working as a freelanced artist in the field between theatre and fine arts. She produces (site specific) audiowalks and audioinstallations as well as music and acoustic set ups for Theater-, Performance- and Danceprojects. Furthermore she is creating videos, lecture performances and videoinstallations with a special interest and focus in and with acoustic-musical questions.

Since 2009 she is working in collaboration with the director Jens Heitjohann on Performance-, Theatre- and Installationprojects, since 2010 with the Dramaturg Friederike Thielmann on musictheatrical Performance-Installations, since 2012 as musician, soundartist and performer with the swiss choreographer Lucie Tuma as well as with the swiss-danish artist-duo Chuck Morris and since recently with Bernhard Mikeska and Alexandra Althoff (RAUM+ZEIT) on their theatrical Installationsprojects.

Her works is represented in the gallery as well as the theatre context. In the last years among others at International Schiller Days in Mannheim, Tanzpanorama in Frankfurt, the Werkschauhalle at Spinnerei Leipzig, the RESONANZEN Festival for Audio Arts in Leipzig, the Kunsthalle Exnergasse in Vienna, Künstlerhaus Mousonturm in Frankfurt, Gessnerallee Zürich, House of the Arts in Brno as well as the Festival Theater der Welt in Mannheim, SÜDPOL Lucern, Inkonst Malmö, MDT Stockholm, LAB Frankfurt, BoraBora Aarhus, Artacademy Cologne, S/V Copenhagen, Pathos München, Skogen Gothenburg, Dansehallerne Copenhagen, Stückemarkt Heidelberg and Sophiensaele Berlin.
